Zelma Elizabeth Hankins of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born Nov. 24, 1923 in Pine Bluff, Ark., daughter of James E. and Katie Pearl (Reed) Hankins. She departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 in Eureka Springs, Ark., at age 94.
Zelma and her husband retired to Eureka Springs around 1975 and in the 1980s they opened up a t-shirt and jewelry store downtown and in the Pine Mountain Village. Her brother, James Reed, built Thorncrown Chapel.
Zelma is survived by two daughters, Elta Sallee and Brenda Bunch; four grandchildren, Angela Bunch, Troy Bunch, Chris Bunch and Curtis Sallee; six great-grandchildren, and many friends and loved ones.
On August 11, 1941 she was united in marriage to Thomas Elton Hankins, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
