Yvonne G. Vaughan, of Eureka Springs, Ark., formerly of Glen Ellyn, Ill., died May 20, 2018 due to complications from a fall at age 88½.

The youngest daughter of Oswald and Paulina Van Steenkist, she was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Chicago, Ill. She spent her childhood and most her entire adult life in Glen Ellyn, graduating from Glenbard High School in 1948 where she met her first husband, William Gerue.

After raising two children she became a paraprofessional staff member in the Glenbard School District working at Glenbard West High School and eventually becoming an Agency Manager at Allstate Insurance in Naperville, Ill., for many years before retirement.

She married Otis D. Vaughan in July 1977 and had a 40-plus year marriage until April 2018 when he passed away.

She loved Beaver Lake, Ark., and life out on Mundell Road and the lake for more than 30 years, having many neighbor friends, volunteering for the Grassy Knob Fire Protection District ladies’ auxiliary and their fundraising events, volunteering at the local Humane Society animal shelter thrift store as she so loved dogs, and fishing on the lake with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lorraine Pinkston, a nephew, and two husbands.

She is survived by her children William A. Gerue, Jr., of Overland Park, Kan., and daughter, Janet Sue (Mike) Schinner of Sullivan, Mo.; grandchildren Benjamin Barbeau, Nathaniel Barbeau and Jared Barbeau; nieces Kimberly Theodore and Denise Busby; and nephew, Mark J. Pinkston.

Memorial reception and interment for Mrs. Vaughan will be held in July at Chapel Hill West Gardens, 17W201 E. Roosevelt Rd., Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
