Consider for your amusement, if you will; A business owner, who has not broken city code in regards to the decibel reading of music played on the premises, decides to enclose the deck on which live music is played, in an effort to abate the music from carrying over to the neighbors. Next, a Planning commissioner, who happens to serve on City Council and CAPC, gives an ultimatum to their approval of the construction. Build it and don’t play amplified music. Is this offer of situational irony the fictional machinations of a writer equally obsessed with the prohibitively bureaucratic side of city government and the twists at the end of an episode of The Twilight Zone? The answer: No, it’s just another day with a Eureka Springs city commission. Go figure. ~j
