William Charles (Bill) Carmichael, 80, of Eureka Springs, Ark., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. Born in Fayetteville, Ark. on Feb. 27, 1936 to William Bernard and Evelyn Marie (Johnson) Carmichael. He lived his life in Fayetteville and Arlington, Texas, Eureka Springs, and the Grassy Knob community of Beaver Lake.       

Bill was a passionate man who enjoyed being immersed in local activities including the Mad Hatter’s Ball and numerous Mardi Gras events and was a huge advocate of volunteerism. He was an enthusiastic first responder within the Grassy Knob community, a Red Cross award recipient and a board member of the Grassy Knob Volunteer Fire Department and the Eureka Springs School of the Arts (ESSA). Bill was also a dedicated Arkansas Razorback fan/supporter, cheerleader, and member of the Sigma Nu fraternity during his time on the Fayetteville campus in the mid-1950s.

Bill was extremely loving and proud of his children, Carolye Asfahl and husband, Greg Tumbush, and son, Lucca Tumbush, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Gaye Jean Asfahl Allen and children April and Tristan Allen of Yukon, Okla.; Steve Carmichael of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Mike Carmichael and husband, Ronnell Tomlinson, of Columbus, Ohio.

He is also survived by his loving partner and best friend, Anna Marie Lee of Eureka Springs/Beaver Lake as well as his many loving life-long friends.

The family will receive friends for Bill’s Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 from – 5 p.m. at the Grassy Knob Volunteer Fire Dept. 12037 Hwy 187 Eureka Springs, AR 72631.
