Editor,
I love passing on compliments I hear around town. Here are two.
My neighbor was looking for a crockpot and stopped at the Good Shepherd Thrift Store in Eureka. She told me she hadn’t been in several years and was so impressed now by the store – she especially loved how the downstairs was arranged, so clean and easy to see everything, with attractive groupings of like items.
Later that week, a couple from Little Rock were shopping at the thrift store and they told me they stopped by every time they visited Eureka. I mentioned as a foster parent I know how wonderful the shelter is “behind the scenes.” They started smiling and told me how they had adopted Oreo the cat from the shelter and how much they loved her.
The woman is a nurse and she said she was so impressed when they visited the shelter, on the spur of the moment the first time. “It was so clean and good smelling and nice. We tell everyone about Good Shepherd.”
I thanked them, and commented how hard everyone (board, staff, volunteers) work and that in a rural area with so many homeless animals how dependent we are on donations from individuals to keep up our high standards.
As they left, I asked them to spread the word about our current shelter foster cat, Bootsie, who is a love. They promised and left in high spirits thinking about their cat and Good Shepherd!
