The Beaver Bridge is in imminent danger of being washed away. The end of the Eureka side of the yellow steel main structure of the bridge is 18 to24 inches underwater. Fifteen to 20 feet past the bridge proper, the asphalt roadbed is mere inches from being underwater. The entire Mississippi and White River system is so full, there is no place for the water to go. The next 4 to 5-inch rain will necessitate the floodgates on Beaver Dam to still be open. If that occurs, Beaver Bridge and its approaches could be washed away.
The community needs to be made aware of the impending disaster as many riverside homes will be flooded. People will be stranded without access to food, electric lines restored, or emergency services. Please consider an emergency bulletin to notify our community and probably save lives.
