Walking the walk

Editor,

Since parking on upper Spring Street has been limited to residents only, I’ve made it a point to only visit Carnegie Library on weekdays. This strategy has worked well, as I haven’t had any problem finding a parking spot.

I’ve noticed, though, on these trips that seemingly only half or less of the parking spaces on the restricted stretch have been occupied. Given that these blocks are probably the most popular in town for viewing our trademark Victorian architecture, I wonder if a better solution might be a compromise where parking is only restricted on the weekends when tourist parking can be a real problem for the residents.

It seems this might be more in keeping with efforts to promote Eureka as a walkable town.
