Virginia Ann (Rothgery) Norris of Eureka Springs, was born Dec. 19, 1948 in Elyria, Ohio, daughter of Paul and Marguerite (Beckloff) Rothgery. The family moved to Jonesboro when she was five, where she grew up and lived till leaving for college. She departed this life Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice, Jonesboro, at age 69, after fighting cancer for well over four years.
Ginny was a silver jewelry designer, with her work found in local Eureka Springs galleries. She moved back to NW Arkansas in 2006, after 34 years away from the state as a military spouse, mother, and later the Senior Seasonal Buyer for A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts, a large East Coast chain. Her work involved lengthy travel to Hong Kong and Taiwan. After returning to Arkansas with her husband of almost 49 years, they also sold her jewelry at large arts & crafts fairs in the Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri region.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Steve,” who she married in August 1969, and two sons, Robert, Jr., and his wife Katie, of Baltimore, Md., and John and his wife, Katie, of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Ginny is also survived by her mother, Marguerite, 89, of Jonesboro; two brothers, Larry and Rick, and two sisters, Polly and Teri, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.
She will be buried Thursday, July 12, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Jonesboro, following services at the Catholic Newman Center, near Ark State University. Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome.
