Carroll County saw 5,281 ballots cast in the March 3 primary this year with a 31.29 percent of total voter turnout. Breakdown of ballots cast were 4,268 for the Republican Party, 876 for Democratic Party, and 137 Nonpartisan.
Bryan King won the Carroll County vote for State Senate District 28 with 2,719 votes or 64.37 percent compared to Bobby Ballinger’s 1,505 or 35.63 percent. King ended up receiving a total 58.95 percent of the vote in the district, winning the seat.
In the Republican State House Rep. for District 6, Justice Hunter Rivett took Carroll County with 1,929 or 55.40 percent of votes compared to Cody Rogers at 1,089 or 31.28 percent of votes, and Steven L. Baird’s 464 or 13.33 percent. Votes from the rest of the district, though, did not have Rivett with a majority in the primary and thus there will be a runoff election against Cody Rogers with early voting starting on March 24 and the main runoff on March 31.
David Writer won the Republican Primary for County Judge with 2,506 or 60.65 percent of votes with Dianna Baird receiving 1,626 or 39.35 percent of votes.
For Prosecuting Attorney, Robert Beau Allen took 3,389 or 67.18 percent of votes with Tony Rogers carrying 1,656 or 32.82 percent.
In the Appeals Court race for district judge, Sarah Capp took the lead in the county with 3,134 or 65.55 percent of votes compared to Brandon Carter’s 1,647 or 34.45 percent. Unofficial vote totals for the 7th Judicial District were Capp with 32,916 votes compared to Carter’s 17,348.
In the State Supreme Court Justice Pos. 3, Nick Bronni received 2,720 or 56.99 percent of votes compared to John Adams’ 2,053 or 43.01 percent.
In other races, Ginger Johnson won the Eureka Springs School District Pos. 5 for school board with 1,083 votes compared to Travis D. Holloway’s 867. Kenny Bonham also won the Green Forest School District Zone 5 seat with 173 votes vs. Paul Wells Jr. at 77. For Republican Primary JP seats, Chris Clifton beat Margaret Hickman for JP District 2 by 7 votes with 50.74 percent of votes. Luke Dignan won JP District 4 with 269 votes compared to Eric Griesenauer’s 60 and Duane Coatney’s 138. And Craig Hicks received 234 votes compared to Lisa Price-Backs’ 40 for JP District 6.
In the Democratic Primary in Carroll County, Hallie Shoffner received 726 of the 860 total votes for U.S. Senate and Fred Love took 594 of a total 845 votes for Governor.
