Thomas R. Morin left his mortal body on Nov. 9, 2022, at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, Ark. He was peacefully attended by his loving wife Cynthia, Thomas’s partner and soulmate of 27 years.
Many of you knew Tom but may not be familiar with his life before becoming a “Freakin’ Eurekan.”
He was born in Providence R.I., raised and schooled in Barrington R.I. He subsequently joined the Navy and was proud to serve on the maiden cruise of the USS Enterprise, 1960-62.
Tom was married and raised two sons, settling in the western foothills of Maine as a homesteader and “back to lander” where he enjoyed a successful career in real estate.
Always personable and helpful to others, Tom’s pursuit of livelihood mostly evolved around sales and marketing. He worked for the Tampa Tribune right out of Navy, then a local newspaper in Maine, and was co-editor with his wife, Cynthia, of a monthly publication promoting holistic health and spirituality in Fayetteville, Ark.
Always adventuring, Tom explored many opportunities including working for Pearson Yachts, Global Relationships Centers, Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, telemarketing for technology investors, was a gardener/groundskeeper, and a wedding officiant.
Following several years in Fayetteville, Ark., an opportunity to manage a Bed & Breakfast brought Tom & Cynthia to Eureka Springs in 2003 – a love of the arts kept them thriving there until they retired in 2017 to nearby Berryville, Ark.
Tom had once been told by an Intuitive that he would work promoting the arts, and indeed Eureka Springs proved to be Tom’s haven. As a patron and promoter, he was involved with fine art & crafts galleries and artists, musicians, writers, dancers, and performers for many years.
Tom enjoyed participating and supporting the Writers’ Colony, Village Writers School, ESSA, Enthios, Main Stage, Opera in the Ozarks, the Gallery Association, Artists Studio Tour, and more.
Tom is perhaps most remembered for his enthusiasm for drumming; community drum circles, parades with the belly dancers, and accompanying the Dances of Universal Peace monthly events.
He will be remembered by all as a kind and gentle soul, a thoughtful and caring person who was a friend to all, offering a smile, a joke or a story at every opportunity to uplift others.
Tom joins the caravan of those who left before – his parents Lucien and Marietta Morin, and youngest brother, Robert Morin.
He will be missed by those who remain in his circle of love – his partner, wife and soulmate, Cynthia Morin; sons Michael (Denise) Morin and Marc Morin; grandchildren Madison and Teddy; brother Jon (Sandy) Morin and sister, Susan Morin Batchelor; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends on the journey.
A local celebration & memorial of Thomas Morin will be sometime in Spring 2023.As his hope was to one day return to visit the Atlantic Ocean of the Northeast, a family event will be held as well.
