As anyone who reads us knows, we are not deprived of our share of public criticism. Liberals question why we publish a Fun Guide that “panders to tourists” and conservatives consider us unpatriotic because we question the commitment of a self-serving government. What the two sides have in common is anger.
Then there’s this – a mobile shower trailer, cleaned and sanitized after each private shower. Two mobile laundry trailers with washers and dryers. A barbershop bus with pro stylists and ADA accessibility. A mobile clothing trailer where a person can find just the right fit. Phone usage. Mail services.
So far, 11,002 hot showers, 3,012 haircuts, 7,854 loads of laundry, 14,337 articles of clothing, 12,401 meals, 6,630 resource connections and 1,144 case management sessions have been gifted to the homeless.
This is what the non-profit BeHeard Movement of Tulsa, Okla., provides, one person at a time.
Beats the socks off arresting and shrinking people. When we (any of us) do, write, or think something right and wonderful, isn’t that the whole point?
