This Week’s Independent Thinker

194

America seems to think that it’s a good idea to give a cold shoulder to other countries that share this planet. There are 195 countries in the world, and 193 of them are in the United Nations (what a wonderful name!)

No one expects us all to get along – being gracious is admirable, and wanting to be left alone has value, also.

Leaders admit to wanting superiority (perceived) or dominance (sketchy) to ensure their standing among other countries. We’re taxing goods from China instead of designing exchange programs to share knowledge.

We’re allowing chemical companies to defile our lakes andrivers, to say nothing of the shared oceans.

Ninety percent of China’s lakes and rivers have been rated excellent by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Environmental protection is state policy, for health and spiritual reasons.

Fifty percent of U.S. waters are too polluted for swimming, fishing or drinking, yet our Clean Water Act has been weakened.

Whatever our political beliefs, every single one of us relies on water for life. Do we really think we can drink money?

Not preaching, just wondering.
