Beaver tailwaters:

The bite on the White River continues to pick up as trout ease into their fall spawning patterns. Each week has shown a little more activity, and all signs point to things only getting better as we move deeper into the season.

Right now, Pautzke Fire Bait and Fire Eggs are producing the most consistent catches, particularly when fished on bottom with light rigs. Anglers throwing jigs toward evening have also been rewarded, as trout seem to feed more aggressively during those lower-light periods. If you’re out during generation, drifting Fire Eggs remains a reliable method for steady numbers.

Some bigger trout are starting to make an appearance, as well.

River conditions are holding steady with water temps in the low 50s and levels staying consistent—ideal for this time of year. With the transition into fall patterns underway, it’s an excellent window to get out and take advantage of the action.

Beaver Lake:

Striper fishing

With these cooler nights the water temp has dropped to 79° and a few stripers are showing on the surface to feed on shad close to the surface. Use your graph to locate these shad on main lake points and channel swings over treetops.

Live bait has been best, thermocline is pushing deeper every week and sitting around 35 – 40 ft. down. If you focus on the thermocline you will put fish in your boat. Stripers are feeding and moving so cover some water as these fish are not sticking around for too long on the points they are feeding.

Crappie are biting jigs over brush piles in 25 feet of water. Pulling crank baits for them is also productive and getting those reaction bites.
