Beaver Tailwaters report:

When I said last week that Summer would return, here we are! I don’t know about you, but I am ready for lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s. We will get another break around the 20th, so we are definitely looking forward to that.

School is getting ready to start back, so get out while you can. That is what Keaton and his dad, Patrick, from Missouri have done. They both set out this week with Busch Mountain Fishing Guide, Austin Kennedy. The morning bite has been on fire, as Keaton can attest to, when he and his father caught many very nice rainbow trout.

The water levels are just about at the normal limits, and the trout bite is very good. Spoons, jigs, soft plastics and dough baits have been the preferred method. As the water levels return to normal, it is time to start moving around and checking them favorite trout holes.

The Corps has been pushing plenty of water too, so prepare for the flow. If you want to catch some bigger fish, you need to be looking for the deeper water. The bite isn’t going to be as quick but, the reward will be greater. As we start moving towards the “ber” months, start looking for them fish to shift into their fall spawn patterns.

Hooked on Fishing Guide Service, Beaver Lake report:

Striper fishing has been consistent early in the morning as the sun is coming up. Very little topwater has been showing on main lake points. Thermocline is 25 to 30 ft. down, get your bait close to that and you’ll have some success. Use your graph to locate tight bait balls with a few fish around.

Work the area real good to find the schools around those bait balls. These stripers have been full of tiny shad in their stomachs so don’t be afraid to downsize your baits to match the hatch. Water temps dropped with these recent fronts and holding at 84°.

Crappie are holding on flats 15 to 30 feet-of-water close to a channel swing. On a hot sunny day, you can find some crappie under a shaded dock, let your jig fall and match the depth they are holding and slow roll it back to the boat.
