Beaver Tailwaters report:

This week the rainbows have been hitting the pink Fire worm – Pautzke or Berkley – better when drift-fishing from a boat. A lot of anglers elect to use the “mouse tail” worm. It comes ready-made with a white egg at the top; thread it to cover the eye of your hook and dangle the rest of the imitator worm like you would a live red wiggler. Experiment with the orange Fire Worm, too, to lure the more curious ones.

The average size of the rainbows here in the Beaver Tailwaters seems to be increasing and they’re still attracted by a flash of gold (Little Cleos, quarter-ounce for now) and the scent of shrimp. This is great water for stickbaits. The glass blue Husky Jerk minnow is getting it done.

Bigger brown trout have been looking for Gire minnows, red worms and shad.

Keep anglin’ and stay aware of surroundings with the higher water. Prepare for the heat and come ready to catch some great trout on the Beaver Tailwaters.

Hooked on Fishing Guide Service, Beaver Lake report:

Stripers are in their summer patterns and the fishing is getting more consistent. Fish are still surfacing early in the morning and then heading back down to the cooler water. Slow trolling live bait has been the most productive in 35 to 100+ feet of water.

Stripers are starting to show up on all the arms on the north end. Make sure you keep your bait close to the thermocline, and you’ll have some success. We are seeing the thermocline about 25 feet down. Live shad minnows and bluegill are all working for striper. Crappie are holding on flats 15 to 25 f-o-w. Docks and brush piles have been good along with open flats if you have Livescope to target those roaming crappies. Water temps low 80s.
