Beaver Tailwaters:
Do I have to be in a boat to catch a bunch of fish? I get asked that question often, and the answer is no. Arkansas Game & Fish have several areas along the Beaver tailwaters that allow you to catch fish. Most public access areas are down CR 136, off Hwy. 187, going towards Beaver Dam.
Keep in mind, different access areas do have different regulations. Just make sure you stop and read all signage. Furthermore, there are more public accesses just below the dam, as well. If you follow our reports, all you have to do, is set up your rod with the techniques and baits that have been reported on. You will have success. If you missed that information, get on YouTube and search Busch Mountain Fishing Guide Service, there are plenty of “how to” videos that should get you on the fish!
Remember for additional updates follow my Facebook page, I’m pretty much on the water every week. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Take care, get out and catch some fish!
Beaver Lake:
Striper fishing has been getting better and better as the lake warms up and fish start to leave the south end. Some fish can still be caught close to the rivers all the way to mid-lake. We’ve seen a really good amount of top water lately, look for them on main lake points and work the areas with live bait, you’ll see blow-ups early in the morning.
Thirty to 80 feet of water are good areas to start looking for feeding stripers. They’ve spawned out and are hungry.
Crappie fishing can be good on flats close to the river arms in 10 to 20 f-o-w. Trolling for them is picking up as they start moving slowly off the shallow flats.
Water temps range from 68° to 70°. Spoonbills under the dam are still being snagged below Houseman Access. A mix of males and females are being snagged with the females still having eggs. Look for slack water after a swing for these fish to be hanging out in. Water temp slowly raising to 52°.
