Beaver Tailwaters

We still have some high water we are dealing with, but the bite is good! Most of the fish we’re catching are between Spider Creek and Houseman Access. We have had great results using various Fire baits and eggs this past week.

When the Corps is flowing, drifting a Fire Worm has been the preferred method. You may have to move around a bit, but the bite is definitely there.

If you’re looking to put some walleye in the boat, try trolling a size 5 Flicker Shad. There are some males that are still being caught in the 10-15 foot of water range. Let’s hope the rain stays away for a bit to allow the river to drain some. Don’t get me wrong, I really like fishing the high waters, especially when Table Rock backflows. That can bring up some bait fish and can also get more fish biting.

Beaver Lake

Stripers have been schooling up since they’ve spawned out and are on the hunt for food. Look for them deeper, 25 to 60 feet-of-water, around bait balls. Mid-lake to the north end has good areas to look for them on your sonar. Some top water has been showing up early in the morning and late evenings.

Crappie fishing has been good on brush piles and flats 15 to 25 fow. Post spawn bite is starting to pick up. Water temps are high 60s depending where you’re fishing on the lake.

Spoonbill fishing has been good under the dam past Houseman Access and above twin bridges with tags. Both areas still have fish with eggs and haven’t spawn out just yet.
