Pictured is a very excited Dylan Boltz, from Mena, Ark., with his first ever Rainbow trout. He took “kissing” his 1st fish to the next level!

Beaver Tailwaters:

Fishing has been pretty good this past week. We have pulling trout in nice numbers and there are still some walleye to be had (but you got to work for them.) Most trout are being caught using Pautzke Fire bait and eggs, fished with light terminal tackle. Gold and silver spoons have also done great, especially during generation. 1/4, letting it sink and working back slowly has been the preferred presentation.

As far as the walleye, you have to work for them and try various methods. Jerk baits and jigging soft plastics have produced the best numbers. This week’s hot spot has been between Spider Creek and Parkers, but don’t expect to get up there by boat unless you have a jet or until they kick on water.

Water temps have been in the high 40s and low 50s. If you want to get in on some white bass action, try fishing between Beaver and Holiday Island.

Beaver Lake:

Striper fishing was awesome before this big rain came in and brought a lot of debris and dirty water into the south of the lake. Look for fish on shallow flats holding bait, on calm days you’ll see them surfacing. Use your graphs to locate tight bait balls on flats close to the channel. A reaction bite has been best so don’t be afraid to change the way your target them this time of year.

Live bait has been best, we’re starting to see more top water blow ups early in the morning and late evening. Crappie fishing has been really good on open flats roaming chasing bait. Some reports of a few crappie moving shallow on nice warm days. Water temps 52°-58°
