Beaver Tailwaters
The fishing this past week has been a little off and on, with all the fronts that moved through. As I sit here to write this report, I can’t help but think I am do ready for warmer temperatures. Water temperatures have been around 45° in the morning to 50° in the evening, and the water level has dropped a little.
Trout have been real responsive to Pautzke Fire worms and Fire baits, fished with light terminal tackle. The fire worms have done best with drifting.
The walleye bite has been up and down as well but is improving. Trolling has produced nice numbers downstream from Houseman Access. Pulling mid-diving crank baits, coated in Pautzke Fire Gel, has been the preferred method.
Hopefully some of this cool weather will move out soon and raise the water temperatures. The white bass have not come up, and we are definitely waiting on them! Remember to follow my fishing Facebook page for day-to-day updates between reports. Have fun, stay safe and catch some fish!

Hooked on Fishing Guide Service, Beaver Lake
Striper fishing has picked up as we are heading towards spring and longer days. The water temps are rising, and the fish are starting to be more active. Look for bait and fish on the end of mud flats close to the channel if you decide to fish the south end of the lake, and if you’re fishing mid-lake look for fish to be holding in deeper water over the treetops.
Stripers are spread throughout the whole lake right now so pick a part of the lake you want to fish and use your graph to locate bait and feeding fish. Crappies are roaming on flats in 5 to 20 ft. of water, chasing bait.
White bass are staring to school up on the mouths of both major rivers, cast a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. jig with a curly tail for them. Water temps 48° to 52° depending where on the lake you’re fishing.
