Taxpayer stress

While doing research with the VA a few years ago I found that if a national guardsman is called up for duty by the governor his or her funeral is not paid for by the US government. If the national guard is called up by the president, the funeral for that guardsman, when he or she eventually dies, is paid for by the US government.

Using conservative estimates in 2025 for the range of $5000 to $8000 per funeral, the deployment of 4000 guardsmen in California will be adding $20 million to $32 million to our national debt. And this is only the first, I assume, of such deployments ordered by our president.
