Susie Kottmeier, longtime and well-known Eureka Springs waitress at the Crescent Hotel and Rogue’s Manor, passed away in her home in Busch last week. She had sent us this picture a few days earlier of a willow tree in her yard that either blew down in straight-line winds or was struck by lightning. “It was 32 years old,” she said. “When Genie Williams gave it to me in a pot she said it wouldn’t live past twenty.” Suzie was a good and true friend, always full of fun. When she showed up to take you on “a little ride” in her Chevy pickup, you knew you’d be gone for most of the day and night meeting people you’d never met but always wanted to.
