The Eureka Springs community lost a friend and frequent visitor in Steve Schultz of Houston, Texas on April 21. Brother-in-law to Buz (Sara) Peine and Martha (Albert Pike) Peine, Steve loved the Ozarks and made it a point to visit the area often.
He had a 30-year career as a stagehand working alongside his brother-in-law Albert Pike. His main passions were bird watching and music; the latter for which he wrote songs, recorded an album, and performed in the Houston area and beyond.
He first met Buz Peine in California in the late ‘60s and was then introduced to Buz’s sister Nannette, whom he married in 1972. They remained married for 47 years until his passing. Steve was also the father of Rob Schultz and father-in-law of Anitra Jay, who regularly perform together in Eureka Springs. He was a kind and gentle spirit who will be missed dearly.
