Speeding toward the marina

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Aaron Ingle told commissioners on Monday that there were 175 police calls at Holiday Island in June, including six accidents, eight civil calls, one dog bite, four fireworks, 51 follow-ups, one gunshot, two reckless drivers, one shoplifting, two thefts of property, four trespassing, and three welfare checks.

He said that of these calls only three arrests made; one felony and two misdemeanors.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ingle said that people are home together for longer lengths of time resulting in a higher amount of domestic dispute calls.

Tourist traffic down to the marina has increased, resulting in speeding violations primarily on Holiday Island Dr., but Ingle assured commissioners that side streets are also being patrolled.
