Spay/neuter clinic reopens

405

After a long hiatus the Good Shepherd Humane Shelter’s Spay and Neuter Clinic is back in operation. The next clinics are April 13 and 14 by appointment (with the exception of feral cats). For the time being, limited spaces are available while the new veterinary team gets used to a new system.

Spay or neuter surgery at the GSHS Clinic on US62E is $35 per cat and from $50 to $100 for dogs, depending on weight. This is good news at a time when cat spays can run from $200 – $400 and dogs from $320 – $550 at a private vet.

Advance payment of spay and neuter surgeries is still required as are rabies vaccinations ($10 extra) or copies of vet records showing current rabies vaccination. Animals must be in good health and will be checked by the attending veterinarian before accepting them into surgery. No animals over age 7 will be accepted.

Other minor procedures, tests, vaccinations and microchipping can also be done at the same time for an additional fee. See goodshepherd-hs.org/clinic/ for a complete list of services and to make an appointment online, or call (479) 253-9188.
