Home games Thursday

The Highlander boys’ and girls’ soccer teams played the 4A Bobcats in Berryville Monday night, and this was the boys’ first away game. It ended in losses for both sides. The boys ended the game 9-1, and the girls ended the game 8-1.

“The boys fought until the final minute, junior Sam Gay said. “We knew going in that this would be a tough game, but we kept our heads up.” The game was rather cold, but there was a good turnout. In the second half wind started picking up, which led to some failed attempts to move the ball upfield. In the second half, Zack Nelson scored the boys’ only goal.

“The girls put up a great fight,” sophomore Celia Stodden said after the loss. “We are starting to communicate better all around, but we know what we need to work on.”

The boys play Tuesday, March 26, at home against Lead Hill, their first conference game. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams will play at home on Thursday, March 28, against Lincoln. Come out to support the Highlanders at the Leatherwood Fields!
