Scots take Bergman, 7-nil

The Highlander boys’ soccer team played their last home game on April 29 against the Bergman Bobcats. Eureka Springs got off to a quick start with four goals scored by Kayden Eckman, a senior and captain of the offense. The Highlanders then proceeded to score three more goals, finishing the first half with seven.

In the second half, Bergman played well on defense and kept Eureka scoreless, but the game ended in a 7-0 victory for the Scots. With this win, the boys’ team finished third in the 3A West conference, and they will compete at 5 p.m. on May 9 in the state tournament. If they win, they will advance and play May 10, and possibly May 11.

The girls’ did not play this week, but also placed third in the 3A West conference, and they will play at 11 a.m. on May 9 in the first round of the 3A State Tournament.

The tournament will be held in Harrison May 9-11, with the finals being held the following weekend on the 18. Come and support the Highlanders as they move on to compete at the State competition! Go Highlanders!
