Finance Director Lonnie Clark provided city council with the financial report for August at Monday’s meeting, with the General Fund showing a net loss of $167,181 due to expenses exceeding revenues. With 2/3 of the year gone, most of the departments are within their amended budget expenses with the exception of Fire & EMS, which has spent 89 percent of its annual budget, and the court which has spent 76 percent.

Sales tax receivables, which constitute more than half of the city’s revenue for the General Fund, are down 11 percent compared to August 2018; a loss of $26,578.

The next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
