Robert Henry McCormick, Jr., 71, of Eureka Springs, Ark., passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Fayetteville, Ark., Sept. 22, 1948.

As a youth he played and coached Little League Baseball, was in the DeMolay Org. (young group of the Masons), a Boy Scout, football player at Springdale High School, and graduated from Siloam Springs.

After returning from military service in the Army, he attended West Arkansas Community College of Fort Smith, Ark., in Accounting. While attending college, he married Brenda G. Alford Mullins, and together they had two children, Rebecca and Amelia.

He started his career at Southwestern Bell in 1973.

In 1995, he married the love of his life, Sara J. Falkner, and adopted her son, Seth. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, he worked at the Eureka Springs Trolley Department until he retired again. After retirement, he and Sara traveled around the United States. He was the kindest, most gentle soul and will be sorely missed.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert Henry McCormick, Sr., mother, Julia Ann Logan McCormick, and brother Steven McCormick.

He is survived by his wife, Sara J. Falkner McCormick at their home in Eureka Springs, Ark.; daughter Rebecca Herber, wife of Mark Herber, and their children Ashley and Colton, of Berthoud, Colo.; daughter Amelia Mabry, wife of Spencer Mabry, and their children Mason and Nicholas of Berryville, Ark.; and son Seth McCormick, husband of Casey McCormick, and their children Brody and Lillian of Russellville, Ark.; and brother, Louis McCormick, husband of Debbie McCormick of Siloam Springs, Ark.; sister-in-law, Diana McCormick of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many family and friends.

Interment was at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. Memorial donations may be made to Ozark Mountain Veterans, PO Box 291, Berryville, AR 72616.
