Ralph Dewayne Faulkner of Holiday Island, Ark., was born February 17, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., to Ralph Freeman and Virginia (Ward) Faulkner. Dewayne passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at age 78.
Dewayne loved living in the Ozarks and had many close friends in the community. He was an active member of the Holiday Island Community Church where he helped with audio and security. He was a member of the Holiday Island Hikers and enjoyed overnight kayak trips on local rivers. He was also a member of the Old Coots golf league and supported the Holiday Island Fire Department by sponsoring a hole in his wife’s memory at the annual golf tournament. An avid music fan, Dewayne was a regular at the King Biscuit Blues Festival and loved watching his St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks.
Dewayne is survived by his son Shawn Faulkner and wife, Kimberly, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., daughter Shannon McGee and husband, John, of Norfolk, Va., seven grandchildren: Jack, Ian, and Ryan Faulkner, and Peyton, Reagan, Madison, and Chase McGee, one sister Peggy King of Cedartown, Ga., several other family members, and many friends.
Dewayne is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Faulkner, and his parents. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030, www.mdanderson.org.
