Editor,
I saw lots of drag queens in town … before, during and after the St. Patrick’s Parade. I didn’t see any of them recruiting anyone.
I just saw a lot of folks having a large time.
I didn’t go home and immediately want to put on a dress.
Or shave my beard. (Come to think of it, one or two of them had beards.)
I did kinda want to come home and do something in my model-building hobby. I don’t know if that was inspired by seeing others enjoying their hobby or not.
The drag show in town still isn’t my thing. Neither is a biker bar, or a karaoke contest, or a foreign language documentary film festival.
Though I’d still go to any of those with friends, just for the company.
None of them makes me want to ride a motorcycle, embarrass myself trying to sing, or make a film about smalltown parades in Swahili.
Can we just get over this nonsense and get back to respecting people instead of being sexually paranoid and threatening their freedoms to self-express and enjoy their interests and conduct their business?
