Editor,
What a surprise to find our favorite walking trail at Lake Leatherwood Park closed and replaced by extreme downhill mountain biking trails.
My husband and I have always come here to enjoy the quiet of the walking trail through the rare geological formations around Miner’s Rock. We have encouraged so many of our Audubon friends to come to Eureka for these walking and bird trails.
When did this project begin? Was advance public notice and city council approval given? What’s next? Are the development plans available somewhere?
As a side note, we have a few bike trails in Saint Louis. One of them is the Katy trail and another one encircles all of Forest Park. Tourists enjoy these trails, too, they were developed for all ages, shapes, sizes, and skill levels.
We won’t go on our erstwhile favorite Lake Leatherwood trail hike until we have the four questions above answered. We want to know. Thanks kindly for sharing.
