QC could ease housing shortage

Editor,

What better group to address Carroll County’s dire housing need than the Quorum Court? Yet, when Suzie and Dan Bell appeared before them recently about the problem, members seemed reluctant. The court has $2 million available to use under the American Rescue Plan, so why not allocate this money to a group like ECHO Village and get things rolling a bit faster?

According to a count conducted on March 10 we have 60 homeless families in the Eureka/Berryville área. Yet the closest shelter for them is Fayetteville or Harrison. Please, please, let’s do something about this.

Look at the Help Wanted signs all around us. We need people to work in restaurants, entertainment venues and motels, yet have no housing those workers can afford. We have an opportunity here and Carroll County’s economy depends upon it, so let’s take advantage of it.
