Property dispute on March 9 council agenda

Resident Craig Cox spoke to city council Monday regarding trespassing on his property on Fuller Street, and with him were a collection of neighbors and supporters. Cox requested council’s assistance to resolve a long and ongoing trespassing issue with neighbor, Mr. Walker.

Cox said that for 11 months he has requested the city’s attention only to be “ignored, misinformed, and misled” by city officials Bobby Ray and Dwayne Allen. Cox said that meetings were continuously delayed or postponed in regard to Walker and the unauthorized use of his property.

Cox insisted that Walker is trespassing on his property repeatedly using his property for a driveway, parking, and storing materials.

With no progress from city officials Cox consulted Carroll County Judge Barr who said it is a city matter.

Cox said that police reports were filed, and No Trespassing signs he posted were removed and disregarded.  “Mr. Walker is using our private property for his personal profit,” Cox said.

“I hope my fellow residents never have to endure the time and trouble of dealing with city officials ignoring and turning a blind eye to their concerns or issues to their property,” Cox said. “It seems our efforts to resolve this issue have continuously been swept under the rug by Eureka Springs city officials including Mayor Berry.”

Alderman Mickey Schneider said this needs to be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting and discussed by Cox, Walker, and city officials.

A Hospital Commission and Council cooperative workshop was tentatively planned for Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m. in the Aud, and the next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m. in the Aud.
