Power of attorney

292

Abbey Foster is doing an excellent job. I am glad you have her.

According to Eureka Springs Municipal Code, the last elected city attorney has the title of “City Attorney.” I was elected to the position, which requires residency in the city. Upon my resignation, the office became vacant until someone is elected to that position. However, I get to keep the title until another attorney is elected to replace me.

Candace Owens is a hired, not elected, attorney for the city. She is a nonresident, as far as I know. I believe that I am and will be the last city attorney, as no one will run for the office in the foreseeable future. Please ask Abbey to refer to Candace Owens, or any of the other attorneys having represented the city, as Attorney for the City, not as City Attorney.

I am splitting hairs, but I am technically correct. That is how the city code reads.

Thank you for what you do for the community. Keep up the good work.

Forrest Jacobi, Eureka Springs City Attorney
