Planning wants action from council

337

Chair Ann Sallee said last week that city council wanted a formal recommendation by Planning commissioners before it would consider a moratorium on Conditional Use Permits for Bed & Breakfasts in R-1 and R-2 zones. Commissioner Susan Harman said she had no problem with a moratorium, the problem was that council has had recommendations regarding updates to sections in Code related to B&Bs for almost a year, so Planning wants a decision on those to know where things stand.

City Economic Development director Glenna Booth commented she did not see the need for a moratorium because commissioners can deny CUP applications, and there have not been many lately.

Harman said what prompted suggestions in the first place was preserving neighborhoods, and that still stands. She moved to inform council that commissioners were in favor of the six-month moratorium. Vote was 4-0 to relay that decision.
