Parks workshop short, sweet, and to the point

Parks’ July 7 workshop was a quick affair as commissioners discussed reopening city parks and the future of the policy manual. Commissioner Cameron Denoewer said that it was time they review the manual, and that he had been working on amendments and edits.

Director Justin Huss, attending the workshop through speaker phone, agreed that now was the time to review it.

When asked if there were job descriptions for employee positions, Huss answered that the manual had descriptions for most jobs. Commissioners asked that he work on filling in the gaps, with Huss citing that seasonal jobs are where the gaps lie. He also said that commissioners should discuss how to update job descriptions.

Denoewer said he would send his amendments and edits to Chair Ruth Hager to put on the agenda, saying they could tackle it a few changes at a time at each meeting.

Huss gave a brief overview of how reopening city parks had progressed, saying the July 4 weekend got the wheels turning. Commissioner Dave Hartmann said he had gone down to see how the shuttle was operating and felt there were too many people in the shuttle at a time.

Huss said they were continuing refining shuttle operations. He also said that a more substantial warning had been put on the playground to keep people from using it.
