Parking and walking is so mainstream

Take a ride on a green machine and experience one of the better deals in town. That’s right, the big green boxy trolleys offer a lot of miles for the buck.

An all-day trolley pass is $6, allowing a passenger to ride any of the four fixed routes. The real deal is a monthly pass for $27, unless you’re 65 or older or handicapped – then it’s $17 a month.

Drivers don’t carry change, so the exact amount is required.

Trolley service starts at 10 a.m., although there is no set schedule for exactly when a trolley will stop at the more than 120 stops around town. It generally takes 30–40 minutes to complete a route.

The trolleys have a miniature back porch for those who like to take in mountain air, and the generous appointment of wood and brass convey old-time charm.

Trolleys run Sunday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and 9 to 8 on Saturdays (May through October), with shorter hours in the winter.
