Volunteers and church members at A Cup of Love Ministry tore the place apart after church services there on Sunday morning, and everyone was happy to see it happen. When some 2,000 feet of carpet, tile, serving counters and baseboards are finally pulled up, pulled down, scraped off, pried up or dismantled, work on a new floor will begin at last. “We’d planned and had fundraisers for it for a long time,” Pattie Jarrett said, “but when we had extra money, there were always more important things we had to use it for.”
Like feeding the hungry. The ministry serves an average of 80 hot meals every weekday, and also provides groceries at no cost to 30 or more people each of those days. A Cup of Love moved into its current location in a former buffet restaurant on US 62 in 2017 and has needed that new floor since then.
Now, thanks to a generous anonymous donation, their funding has been met and the work has begun – mostly by volunteers. The building will be closed for at least a week and will greet the new year with a beautiful, serviceable polished concrete floor installed by Kevin Walker Concrete in Rogers.
