One week til Willo

The cast and producers of Willo Mancifoot the Musical have a busy week ahead with the play scheduled for the opening weekend of the May Festival of the Arts.

Willo’s world premiere is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at The Aud, with a matinee Sunday at 2 p.m. Area schoolchildren will attend a free preview performance of the play on May 3.

Valerie Hubbard Damon, Grand Marshal of the Artrageous Parade at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, wrote and illustrated the book that inspired this musical. She scheduled the free performance to give as many kids as possible a chance to see song and dance and computer effects that convey a message of hope and cooperation.

The Willo production has relied on Main Stage and Elite Dance Studio for rehearsals, which next week move to The Aud, giving the cast their first opportunity to measure their performance on a big stage.

The Willo Mancifoot Facebook page has pictures of some of fanciful creations and information on making a donation to help defray cost of production.

Tickets are available at theaud.org.
