City council unanimously approved its second temporary Entertainment District application Monday evening, authorizing an ED “operation for Center Street for OktoberFest on October 19 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. to promote hospitality and tourism and highlight restaurant and nightlife entertainment for tourists.”

Kent Turner of Eureka Springs Rotary is the primary contact for the festival. The exact location will begin at the crosswalk on Center and Spring Sts. and extend to 6 Center St. on the west to the 9 Center St. on the east; the area will be temporarily fenced.

Possession and consumption of alcohol in open alcohol containers will be permitted upon first obtaining identification wristbands at the points of sale. The applicant also stated that 3-ounce mugs on neck lanyards will be provided.

Live music is permitted from noon to 4 p.m. inside the fenced area at no more than 85 decibels.

The Police Chief, Public Works Director, and Mayor approved the application on Sept. 12.
