Nearly normal Halloween

Some home and business owners on White Street are welcoming trick or treaters this year. Mark Hughes, who has helped organize the White Street candy bank in previous years, said some residents are decorating, but not passing out candy. Others are passing out candy in chutes to avoid close contact.

“We are trying to keep people from clumping and crowding,” Hughes said. “It will be up to the parents to keep kids safe in face masks and by avoiding crowding.”

Halloween on White Street will be Oct. 31, and the Heart of the Eureka downtown group will be celebrating on Oct. 30.
