520

Nancy Lornett Kappen of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born January 15, 1957, to Loren and Ruth (Ingmire) Oliver. Nancy passed away Jan. 23, 2023, in Fayetteville at age 66 after a long and hard-fought battle with illness.

She enjoyed life to its fullest whenever she could. Her passions were traveling, photography, music, and watching the Razorbacks, but most of all, spending time with her loved ones. Whether it be on a vacation or competing together while watching Jeopardy, nothing was better to Nancy than being with her family.

She was a staunch advocate for many causes, mostly focused upon Animal, Native American, and Women’s rights. However, she was a fighter for anything she saw as being unjust.

Nancy was known for being quick witted, opinionated, tough, brave, funny, loving, and very generous. With her big personality and musical laugh, she brought a beautiful light into the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her.

On Dec. 20, 1986, Nancy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ronald Kappen, who survives her of the home. She is also survived by her daughter Amy Kappen and husband, Patrick Hogue, of Fayetteville; mother Ruth Oliver of Clifty; brothers Danny Oliver and wife, Jenny, of Clifty, Dale Oliver and wife, Sharon, of Clifty; best friend, who was like a sister, Amy McVaugh and husband, Don, of Powhatan, Va.; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Nancy is preceded by her father Loren Oliver; and brothers Jimmy Oliver, Lindall Oliver.

A Celebration of Nancy’s Life was held at the Eureka Springs Community Center on Jan. 29, 2023.
