A mistrial was declared a couple of hours into a jury trial Sept. 22 at the Western District Courthouse in Eureka Springs in the case accusing Paul Michael Valdivieso of Berryville with robbery, reckless driving, and aggravated assault. The charges stem a June 20, 2019, high-speed chase through Eureka Springs with Valdivieso driving a stolen Nissan Rogue.

Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk Marilyn Ferrier said the mistrial was declared about two hours into the trial because one of the jurors was related to a witness. The case is expected to be retried, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
