A memorial service will be held for long-time Eureka Springs artist and activist LauraJo Smole on June 7 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 17 Elk Street. Friends are invited to wear or bring examples of LauraJo’s artwork to display at the service. A veteran of the U.S. Army, LauraJo was a jewelry maker, bookmaker, fabric artist (including crochet and costume making) and an advocate for other artists, the handicapped and the LGBTQ community. She worked at city hall and was later a city alderman.
