Medicare a necessity

Editor,

I am just now surviving major surgery at Washington Regional Medical Center with “boot camp” rehab at HealthSouth. To say the least, I had apprehension about the quality of healthcare in NW Arkansas.

This is my public thank you letter for both facilities – their employees – (maintenance, cooks, housecleaners, all levels of technical staff from the doctors to the various classifications for nurses, occupational therapy techs, physical therapy techs, all of the staff that make up a smooth-operating medical facility) – were patient and kind.

Thank you so very much.

I had only one slightly annoying situation when a tired, male nurse harshly admonished me not to call out in the middle of the night. It was his grasping of my surgical spot that made me call out in pain. I admit I was sometimes terrified.

Since I had only TV to entertain me at night, I learned a lot – nature shows with hardworking people who care about our planet and her inhabitants, for example; and daredevil anthropologists who explore our fascinating human history.

I also heard of Trump’s and the Trumpites’ plan to cut Medicare and Medicaid, and perhaps Social Security!

What would we do for medical care, enough food, some money to pay bills? I oppose the Republicans’ agenda and know that our state and country can, indeed, provide for all its citizens.
