Mabel Irene Walden was born near Busch, Arkansas, on Sept. 14, 1921, to Tom Weston and Myrtle Scroggins and completed her life in Springfield, Mo., on May 23, 2022.
She married Smead Walden on Sept. 16, 1939. She was the postmistress in Busch, Arkansas, for more than 20 years. Mabel and Smead also owned the Busch Store for several years and were successful farmers and proud owners of a century farm that borders Table Rock Lake. Mabel was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children Juathina Claspill of Springfield, Mo., and Roger Walden and his wife, Vickie, of Beaver, Arkansas. She is also survived by four grandchildren Valorie, Eugene, Rodney and his wife, Becky, and Sara, as well as great-grandchildren Bree, Rachel, Madeline, and Isaac.
Mabel was preceded in death by her two brothers, LeRoy and Leon, her parents, and her husband, Smead.
Service was May 26, 2022, at Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs with Pastor Roy Scates, Pastor Glen Warner, and Pastor John Inmon officiating. Memorial donations may be made Beaver Cemetery, PO Box 785, Eureka Springs, AR 72632.
