Kathy Cottrell, 76, of Eureka Springs, Ark., passed away Sept. 10, 2022, at Eureka Springs Hospital surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born on June 7, 1946, in Stilwell, Okla., to Elbern N. and Lillie P. (Abbott) Coons.

Kathy married the love of her life, Clif Cottrell, on Sept. 8, 1984, and they had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.

Kathy loved her family more than anything. She was very dedicated to each and every one of us. After her retirement, she and Clif moved to Eureka Springs and built their dream home with enough bedrooms so everyone could visit at once.

While she loved her children, she was overjoyed anytime she could spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathy loved spending time with her dearest friend Janie Simmons (Jim) of 50 years who was more family than friend. She loved to travel with the “Camping Women” who started out tent camping and ended with a condo in Cancun.

Kathy was a very talented artist and quilter. Even after her stroke, she was still painting and quilting. She was an amazing person and the best mom.

Kathy has 8 children:  Jimmy Fields (Linda); Rickey Fields (Brenda); Jerry Fields; Tracie McKellips (David); Daniel Cottrell (Jennifer); Suzanne Cottrell; Larry Fields (Lily) and Jeff Fields.

She has 20 grandchildren: Jason Fields (Stacy); Candance Swann (Jon); Rachel Bellona; Josh Fields (Courtney); Heather Hammel (Ryan); Jessica Wynn (Derrick); Sam McKellips (Sarah); Nick Fields; Danielle Cottrell; Bryce Fields (Laura); Christian Fields (Alyson); Colton Fields (Anne); Jacob Cottrell; Mason Fields; Madelyn Miller (Zeb); Logan Fields; Alicia Cottrell; Genna Fields; Kristopher Fields; Hope Fields; Benny Fields.

Kathy has 23 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sisters, one brother, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and more nieces and nephews to count.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Jerry Fields, brother Bob, and sister Doris.

Memorial service was Sept. 17, 2022, at Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs with Doby Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers; please plant a tree instead. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Services.
