Just let this one slide

My family and I went to Eureka Springs Zipline with my cousins and their family. We had all gone zipping before, when the course was at a different location, but they moved to a new place south of Eureka Springs with some longer runs.

My father works there as a guide on occasion, and he led our group. The guides equipped us and gave us instructions, and they always kept us clipped to the main ziplines or to the platform, so we were always safe.

The last time I went on the ziplines, I was younger, and it was a little scary at first. I’m 12 now, so I just relaxed and felt free. We started our journey from a platform right outside the office.

By the third of the nine ziplines, we were gliding over the treetops. The next one was the longest. From the platform, I couldn’t see to the other end because the line disappeared into the trees. This run is called the Mullet Maker, because it ends by going between two rows of trees. I tried to hold my breath all the way across, and of course, I didn’t make it. So, it literally left me breathless.

This long trip ended on a floating platform, suspended around a tree. Another line went even faster, and I was going so fast I felt the straps on the harness slapping against me. By the time we got to the last line, I wanted to make it a good ride, but it felt like it was over so quick.

After 10 years at a zip site on Pivot Rock Road, co-owners Will and Kendra Wall branched out to a “bigger, better” location on Arkansas Hwy. 23 South. They have nine separate lines, adding up to more than two miles. Will said the course is longer and more scenic, and told me, “We like showing people the adventure of a lifetime. They’re making memories, one zip at a time!”
