Fayetteville native Joe Purdy is an Americana Folk troubadour, telling stories from the heart with a soft, sad voice that conveys deep emotion. Purdy has achieved success, but on his own terms, releasing 14 albums without ever signing to a major record label. His songs have been included in TV and film, notably “Wash Away” from J.J. Abrams drama Lost and seven song placements in popular show Grey’s Anatomy. When he sings, you want to stop and listen.
For the season opener of the Basin Park Music Series, Purdy will be joined onstage by SmokeyDewdrops, which is The Honey Dewdrops and Smokey & The Mirror combined. Successful folk artists in their own rights, when they performed all together with Purdy at the 2018 Fayetteville Roots Festival they cooked up some musical magic. Thanks to the CAPC, we have the opportunity to hear them on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. in Basin Park, won’t cost you anything and it’s two hours well spent.
