Jerry Austin of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born March 23, 1944 in Elsie, Mich. He was one of seven children born to Frank and Viola (Sanders) Austin. He departed this life Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Eureka Springs at age 73.
Jerry was employed by Buick in Flint, Michigan for 36 years before his retirement, when he and Linda moved to Eureka Springs, Ark., and made their home at Beaver Lake. He loved to fish and had a wonderful sense of humor. There was not anything he could not repair. Jerry’s family meant the world to him and he will be in their hearts forever.
On January 2, 1965 in DeWitt, Mich., he was united in marriage to Linda (Poor) Austin for 53 memory filled years. She survives him. He is also survived by three sons, Scott Austin of Conway, Ark.; Neil Austin and wife, Brenda, of Luther, Okla.; Glenn Austin and wife, Naomi, of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Eva Roy of Michigan; sister, Leona Lauback of Tennessee; brother, Duane Austin of Arkansas; five grandchildren, Melinda Heilaman, Faith Heilaman, Brandon Heilaman, Norah Austin and Elliott Austin; two great grandchildren, Malachi Miller and Brady Lallande; 33 nieces and nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and a host of friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Viola Austin; sister, Virginia Godley; two brothers, Lyle and Dale Austin.
A celebration of life service will be scheduled for a later date.
